Did you know your oral health is linked to your overall health? Well, it’s true, which is why our dentist, Dr. Bryce Bray, strongly encourages you to take good care of your smile by keeping up on oral hygiene. Fortunately, there are little things you can do each day to achieve an even stronger smile, and our dentist is happy to tell you what those things are. In addition to brushing and flossing, try doing the following things:

No. 1: Use mouthwash. Many people forget to rinse their mouth with mouthwash at least once a day. Rinsing can help you complete the cleaning job and can even help you prevent dental issues by killing bacteria and strengthening the tooth enamel. As you rinse, make sure you use antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash that has been approved by the American Dental Association.

No. 2: Consume calcium and other vitamins. Calcium and Vitamin D are necessary for maintaining the strength and health of your teeth and gums. Just like calcium strengthens the bones, it can strengthen the smile. So, make sure to have milk, yogurt, orange juice, broccoli, cheese, and other dairy products regularly.

No. 3: Clean your tongue. If you clean the surface of your tongue daily, whether it’s by brushing it with your toothbrush or using a tongue scraper, you will remove the bacteria that live there are haunts the smile. It can even help you prevent bad breath and improve the sensation of your taste buds!
